Japanese Tea Ware

           Master Potter Richard Bresnahan

I love the aspect of having a simple form be more complex by just changing the handles position.  Besides, I hate having to find the right angle of the spout for pouring.  I am not fond of this spout, but the piece has a great shape.

Some Tea Bowls that are inspiring

Found on redlodgeclaycenter.com

I love this because it reminds me of Steven Hill. the Contrast of  Matte and Gloss and the Earth Tones are beautiful.  The shape is contrasting. squared top and round foot.  The little swirl is organic and free flowing.

Steven Hill Inspired Tea Bowl.

I love these Steve Hill inpired Teas Bowls.  They are more complicated in the glazing but the crystals are  pretty.

In praise of Arakawa and Tokuro, please behold their sublime tea bowls. Hyobai (氷梅 Ice Plum Blossoms 1970) by Arakawa Toyozo Excellent iron underglaze painting coupled with crackling kairagi (梅花皮), a glaze characteristic which was Arakawa's trademark.

This Shino pot was in gas fired. It inspired to find a crackle glaze.

New crackle slip with transparent brown glaze
This is one of favorite Teas Bowls that is did.  Crackle Slip and glazed.   Getting a reduction look in a Oxidation kiln is tricky.

I want to find a balance between the "Wiggle Wire" cuts and a nice organic shaped Tea Bowl. I love this Matte glaze we developed.

Feeling like I haven't accomplished much over the last 6 months without a studio.  Now that I getting into the local Art Center I feel a lot better.  Occupying my days with purchasing, on ebay, supplies to do glass beads, jewelry, and 6" glass plates.

Well, I am back in white rock, BC, with my friends.  We are going to get clay today to do some pottery.  I have been working hard and making good money to open a store in the future. Hoping to travel doing some charity work.  I am on twitter now.  https://twitter.com/tearceun

I have been busy making Tea bowls, Cups, and Bowls.  Lots of testing.  Some Failures, but more successes. I am planning on selling them at the Cloverdale market on Sundays for awhile.  Here are the nice ones.
